New nurse call technology to be unveiled at Care & Dementia Show

Leading care technology manufacturer, Courtney Thorne, is set to reveal its new Altra Nurse Call System at this year’s Care & Dementia Show.

The new system utilises smart mobile technology to provide a wireless system that combines proven radio frequency technology with Bluetooth and Wifi.

The system contains a touch screen unit, ‘Altra Touch’, which collects call data, response times and call duration information. A smaller, wall-mountable touch screen, the ‘Altra MiniTouch’ can be placed in communal areas to provide call alerts for staff.

Altra also includes traditional call buttons such as bathroom/toilet pull cords as well as a wearable device that offers patients freedom of movement. If a patient needs assistance, the wearable device, named the ‘Altra Wear’, sends out a location signal to nurses’ touch screens which then helps them find the patient.

According to Courtney Thorne’s managing director, Graham Vickrage, “full android and iOS device integration” is to follow within a year.
